Arden Cho

I’m always happy to run into an Asian actor because while improving, I still feel there’s a lack of Asian representation in both television and film.  I’m even more happy to run into a Christian actor, because I feel like this industry is one where God really needs to gain more ground.

Arden happens to be both, and I enjoyed hearing her story of how she abandoned convention to follow a career path guided by inner leading. Coincidentally, Arden and I are both Texans and grew up in the same hometown!  Small world, indeed.

In addition to acting, Arden is also a great singer and has quite the following on Youtube.  This is one of my favorite shots from our session.

Arden’s also got a great smile, and has done a lot of commercial work both here in the states and overseas.  I think her vivacious personality translates well in the commercial shot below:

Geoff

I shot yesterday with Geoff, one of my favorite people and best friends here in LA.  Just an all-around great guy who loves losing to me in tennis! ;)  We’ve done headshots three times together now, and the first time was nearly two years ago when I didn’t have a clue about the right way to do them.  I think each time we shoot, the shots get stronger and stronger. Geoff’s essentially seen me progress every step of the way with headshots, and it’s nice to have a good friend in this industry that I can lean on for advice and support.  We tried out quite a few different looks yesterday.  For the first look, we aimed to do a very edgy, scruffy look enhanced by directional lighting.  Here’s what we came up with…

Pretty convincing, right?  From there, Geoff shaved the scruff off, and we captured this cleaner, younger edgy look with the appropriate lighting adjustments:

Massive difference with just a few simple changes.  We also did a wide variety of commercial looks with this one below (the professional), being one of my favorites.

Geoff is signed with one of the top commercial agencies here in Los Angeles and is in the current national Pepsi commercial which first aired during the Superbowl.  Hopefully, these new shots will fetch him a lot more castings and auditions.

DJ is a stuntman, a stilt walker, and teaches gymnastics.  He does shows at both Universal Studios and Magic Mountain.  He’s done theater work too, so many of his expressions were really exaggerated.  ”Draw it back a little,” I kept reminding him during our session.  It’s always fun to work with someone with a ton of energy.

I worked with a familiar face today – Adrienne.  I first shot with Adrienne a year ago (can’t believe it!), and she recently contacted me because she signed with a new agency and needed new headshots.  Her agent was pretty specific in wanting a very clean and light colored background, so our little team set out to get the winning shots.

Adrienne is a real pro and an awesome person on top of that, so I knew the pictures were going to be great, and I was excited to write up this post as soon as the shoot wrapped.  I wanted to post both a commercial shot and theatrical shot so you can see how versatile she is as an actress.  Who wouldn’t buy a product from this friendly face?

And then for the theatrical shot, we decided to mix it up and take a few without the light background.  I love this headshot below because though Adrienne is super friendly, in this shot she looks so tough and ready to take on anybody that crosses her!  And finally, shout-out to the awesome hair and makeup job by Shiou, who always delivers!
