My latest headshot client was Annie. Annie has a theater background and is currently majoring in acting. We were considering a green top, but as soon as I saw her blue eyes and her dark auburn hair, I knew we had to shoot wearing something blue. This top really popped out her eyes, quite an incredible color. All in all, it was fun, easy, and quick. I love headshots, and this is how all headshot sessions should go!

And here’s Annie with a different look:

Yesterday evening, Shiou (my friend and stylist for shoots) and I attended AMDA’s Photographer Fair. AMDA is a drama and performing arts college at the center of Hollywood. I had a table setup among a group of other headshot photographers, and we were showcasing our work to about 60 acting students.
Heading to the event, we severely underestimated rush hour LA traffic and were stuck on Sunset Blvd. while turtles with limps walked by us. Me + being late + being stuck in traffic is a terrible, awful, no-good, very bad combination. There I was sweating bullets, muttering prayers, with my blood-pressure shooting through the roof, while Shiou remained in the passenger seat her usual composed self. It was quite the juxtaposition. :)
We flew into the event with exactly two minutes to spare before all the acting students arrived. We threw our booth together faster than a bull with gas while I tried to calm my heart palpitations. Whew!
Once the event started, everything clicked like clockwork. I passed out cards, showed off my portfolio, gave out candy, and had a great time. Got home that evening and already got the first headshot booking!
Here are a couple of pictures from the event and our wonderful setup:
